Marsha & Tamara Ottey Scholarship
The Marsha & Tamara Ottey Scholarship is in loving memory of Marsha and Tamara Ottey- two sisters that were taken too soon. The teens were slain on August 16, 1995, and this scholarship is to keep their memory alive and encourage a new generation of young women to excel academically and athletically, just as Marsha and Tamara did.

Their parents are long-time members of the Vere Tech Alumni Association, and Marsha and Tamara were among the first children to line up for gifts at our annual kids Christmas parties.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has successfully graduated from high school by completing GRADE 12, maintaining a B+ AVERAGE; a promising and exceptional competitor in athletics and who displays outstanding behaviour, on and off the field.
The scholarship is worth $816.95, which represents the month, day and year when Marsha and Tamara were taken from us. The award presentation will be made at the Association’s annual dinner/dance. To apply, please send a copy of your high school transcript, along with your biography, indicating why you think you should be chosen.
